The pandemic may have made life a tad bit challenging in many aspects, but couples worldwide have found their common ground amidst all that chaos. Today, we’re sharing a couple of socially-distanced, safe, and fun wedding ideas.
1. Shoe game
A few rounds of the traditional shoe game are always fun! It is relatively safe since the couple is the only two people on the floor and have their backs to each other. This game is perfect for both sides of the family to get to know each other. All you need is a couple of hours and a pair of their shoes.
Put down two chairs and ask the couple to sit with their backs facing each other. Let them hold one of each – their spouse’s shoes.
If you want your guests to mingle with each other, ask them to write down prompts as questions! This is a fun little twist to the traditional game. Every time a prompt is spoken, the couple will raise the shoe of who they think is most likely to partake in the prompt.
2. Mad Lib cards
This is a great ice-breaker. Order customized Mad Lib Cards for your wedding. Plenty of manufacturers online can do this on short notice. The Mad Lib Cards are filled with prompts that the guests should fill in.
Prompts could look like this: “My best advice for you two on this is to always ____ and to never ____.”
3. Karaoke singing
Are you a fan of all things music? If yes, you’ve got to channel your inner pop star during the karaoke segment of the entertainment.
This is a perfectly safe game, and a totally fun ice-breaker, as well! Making this a friendly competition between the bride and groom’s family is a great way for the families to get to know each other better.
To keep it socially distanced, provide each guest with a chit that has a number written on it. Then draw a chit from a bowl and announce the numbers. The guests with the same numbers from both teams come forward and battle!
4. Bride and groom trivia
This is a great chance for the bride, groom, and their families to uncover just how well they know each other! Make a slideshow with questions, and pick teams. Make sure to include a prize for the winner.
5. Truth or dare
Keep a flashcard with truth and dare written on it and keep it upside down on the guest’s assigned seat. When the entertainment rolls out, the couple can ask the guest, “Truth or dare?” Preplanned questions and dares will make this a seamless round of entertainment.
6. Traditional date night jar
We all love a traditional game of date night ideas, don’t we? This is an incredibly safe and socially-distanced way to let the guests mingle and weigh in with their out-of-the-box ideas!
Ask the guests to write these down at the entrance itself and drop all these chits in a mason jar or novelty box. This will be a rather sweet moment for everyone present when the entertainment rolls out!
7. Tarot and oracle card love reading
On this day filled with love and warmth, what’s better than a tarot or oracle card reader coming by to throw some insight into your love life? Arrange a small canopy with a sanitizer and disinfectant spray. Let the tarot or oracle reader offer their insight into your love life.
Take it with a grain of salt if you’re a skeptic. Find the glint of joy, love, and laughter. Nonetheless, this is one interesting way of finding entertainment!
8. Badminton
Yes, badminton. You heard us right. Are you and your partner a fan of all things sport? If yes, this socially-distanced game is the perfect way to break the ice. It also encourages guests to mingle while keeping a distance and being safe. Keep a sanitizer and disinfectant spray nearby, and sanitize your badminton rackets and hands.
9. Fire pit and smores
There’s nothing better than a calming huddle around the fire pit with your loved ones. To create these memories safely, place wooden logs or foldable chairs at a distance from one another. You could even do this in a larger ground or backyard and designate little wedding canopies for every family or couple.
To personalize this experience ten folds, the theme for the wedding canopies can be similar to your theme (Boho, cottagecore, fairytale, rustic, etc.). Or, you could add polaroid pictures of the people in the tent and stick them around the canopy poles.
10. Comedian or singer
A comedian will have you clutching your sides in laughter, and it also ensures a safe and socially-distanced environment. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, am I right? This will take up the perfect time for your entertainment section and keep your loved ones safe.
